Monday, 12 May 2008 |
Singers workshopOctober 18th-26th, 2008 Director and conductor: Marcel Pérès co-director: Marsja Mudde organiser: Erik Dyckhoff In this workshop, we will study the mystic sounds of the music composed by medieval abbess Hildegard von Bingen and 15th century composer Jean Mouton. But also Leos Janacek and Igor Stravinsky, both icons of the 20st century, created some very beautiful compositions with a mystic soundscape in the Byzantine tradition. We will discover contemporary mystic moods in the works of Marcel Pérès, Maurice van Loon and Joep Franssens. There is no real rift between the sphere conjured by Hildegard's religious masterworks and the psychic effects of contemporary spiritual songs, as we shall experience during this workshop. The mysteries of the life of the Holy Virgin - being one of the most inspiring subjects of medieval belief - have always been welcome topics of meditation and contemplation. The workshop will be concluded with two concerts on historical venues. A role in the concerts for linked poetry is being considered. |

This summer and autumn ensemble Trigon has been recording the chant from the Agatha manuscript. This manuscript belongs to the collection of Museum Prinsenhof in Delft (NL). The building of the museum used to be a convent of sisters of the Third Order, the Agatha Convent. The manuscript contains chant used in the entrance rituals for the novices. Ensemble Trigon is the first to sing and record parts of this manuscript. The recordings can now be heard in one of the exposition rooms of the museum. |
