Ensemble Trigon was founded in 1998 by artistic leader Margot Kalse and - depending the project - consists of three to five experienced singers: Margot Kalse (mezzo-soprano), Cora Schmeiser (soprano), Marsja Mudde (soprano), Inga Schneider (mezzo-soprano), Mikae Natsuyama (soprano) and / or Corinne van Wijk (soprano). Trigon focusses on vocal music from the Middle Ages and tries to come to an interpretation as close as possible to the original. Therefore the earliest available sources of the music are used and analysed, as well as treatises about vocal techniques and performance from the medieval period. Modal movement and natural vibration are keywords in the approach of Trigon. .jpg) |

The Cantus Modalis Foundation is the host organisation of this ensemble, consisting of (pre)professional singers and instrumentalists, and led by Dr. Rebecca Stewart. The ensemblemembers are specialised in early music and often also sing or play in other ensembles. In 2006 the ensemble recorded all known music of Christiaan van der Ameyden, the last dutch singer in the Cappella Sixtina in Rome. The CD was very well received in the press. The ensemble often gives concerts in the Netherlands and Germany, and sometimes makes tours, e.g. in Georgia, Korea, Eastern-Europe. The ensemble (in some sense the successor of the Schola Cantorum Brabantiae) is a wellknown guest in the fringe programme of the Utrecht Early Music Festival. Click read more for information on courses and contact information for the ensemble. |

Vocal ensemble Ascending consists of Ronald Kuilman (tenor), Ton Debets (bass) and Marsja Mudde (soprano) and focusses on music from early renaissance. Currently they bring a programme on the worship of Maria in England and France, around the Old Hall Manuscript, as well as a programme on Anxieta's music, a wellknown spanisch composer at his time, but now often forgotten. For the latter programme, the trio has asked Paul Smit to join them on his trombone, which beautifully matches their voices. In 2006, the ensemble had two fringeconcerts in the Utrecht Early Music Festival. Several early music stages have shown interest in the ensemble and they have given concerts all over the Netherlands. |
